HV SASH is a specialist support service for people affected by sexual abuse, rape, and sexual harm. The service provides crisis support 24/7, counselling, advocacy, and Court support. Assistance for survivors as well as support for family, whānau, and friends.

HV SASH supports anyone affected by sexual abuse, from age 4 years of age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, or when the abuse occurred. Support is also available for family members, whānau, and friends of survivors

Yes. All HV SASH services are provided free of charge

Yes. HV SASH provides confidential support. Staff will explain any limits to confidentiality, such as situations where there are serious concerns about safety.

No. You do not need to make a Police report to access HV SASH services. Support is available whether or not you choose to involve Police.

Yes. Our specialist Crisis Support staff can explain the Police reporting process, answer your questions, and support you throughout.

Specialist Crisis Support Staff will listen to your situation, discuss your immediate needs, answer your questions, and help you decide what support options are right for you. You can access as much or as little support as you need.

You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing. Staff will explain your options and support you to make informed decisions at your own pace.

You can still access support. HV SASH assists people affected by both current and historic sexual abuse.

Yes. HV SASH provides support and counselling for family members, whānau, partners, and friends who have been impacted by someone else's experience of sexual harm.

Yes. You can have a trusted support person, family member, or member of your whānau involved when you contact HV SASH. Staff can discuss how that person can support you while respecting your privacy and choices.

No. You can refer yourself directly. Referrals are also accepted from health providers, community organisations, schools, Police, family members, or other support agencies. **Add link to Referral form here**

Yes. From 4 years of age HV SASH supports children, young people, and adults. Services are tailored to the person's age and needs.

You do not need to be certain before reaching out. HV SASH staff can provide a safe, non-judgemental space to talk through your concerns and discuss available support options. This can be helpful for people who are unsure about what happened or how it is affecting them.

Yes. You can talk with HV SASH staff about changing, pausing, or ending support. Staff can explain your options so you can decide what feels right for you.
